Practical Applications of Career Exploration (PACE)
The Practical Applications of Career Exploration Program assists in the transitional
needs of
high school ESE (Exceptional Student Education) students in Brevard County
Public Schools. Brevard Achievement Center staff work closely with administrators,
teachers and local businesses to help students identify their individual interests and
skills and expand their awareness of possible career opportunities.
The PACE Program provides students with the opportunity to:
- Complete interest inventories, which help identify areas of interest.
- Develop personalized resumes.
- Participate in employment interview experiences.
- Participate in Job Club activities to develop employment awareness skills.
- Participate in a "job shadowing" experience with an employee in a local business,
which the student has identified as a potential future job.
Local businesses and employers provide support by:
- Participating as speakers in the classroom providing information regarding
interviewing skills and conducting "mock" interviews.
- Hosting a student for a one day job shadowing experience. The student can
observe employees in the business perform their work and have the opportunity to ask
questions about the
job(s).
These valuable experiences have a tremendous impact on students who are preparing to
make realistic career choices after graduation.
